The San Antonio Spurs (41-26) look to continue a seven game head-to-head winning streak against the Atlanta Hawks (44-24) that has lasted four seasons. TV coverage for Sunday’s game is on ESPN beginning 8PM Eastern.

The Spurs, second in their division and 4.5 games behind Dallas, are coming off Friday’s 147-116 home win over Golden State. The Spurs had 121 points at the end of the third quarter. All 12 Spurs players on the roster put points on the board. The Spurs had 90 points in the paint, ran for 18 fast break points, sank 6 3-pointers but struggled hitting just 17 of 32 free throws.

Atlanta will be looking to get a rare win the series as the Spurs look for their eighth straight victory over the Hawks. Odds makers opened the line at Atlanta -3.5 and the total at 195.5. Interestingly, the line has moved down a point at many books. In their last head to head match-up eight weeks ago, the Spurs covered their-3 home line with a final score of 105-95.

The Hawks played Friday as well and came out victorious versus the Bobcats in a 93-92 overtime win. Joe Johnson, who is coming off a heel injury, hit the game-winning shot in overtime although he did not make a shot in the first three quarters of play. Johnson is the Hawks scoring leader this season with 21.4 points per game. The Hawks could use the help of point guard Mike Bibby. Bibby has been with back issues this season and only played 15 minutes and scored four points in Friday’s game versus Charlotte .

Spurs starters should be well rested. No starter saw more than 23 minutes of play. Tim Duncan played less than 14 minutes on Friday and scored 17 points going a perfect 8-8 from the field with six rebounds, five assists, and one block.

Atlanta is 4 games behind Orlando. A healthy and active starting five will give the Hawks at least a chance to move past Orlando going into the playoffs. See if this game pans out to be as close of a battle as lines makers expect at 8PM Sunday night.
