Boston Celtics take on the Utah Jazz in NBA Action Sports Betting Picks Preview

Boston Celtics take on the Utah Jazz in NBA Action Sports Betting Picks Preview thumbnail

In Las Vegas the Utah Jazz are favored by 4.5 points and the total has been set at 200.

The Boston Celtics (45-24) have been hearing that they were too old before they won the championship in 2008. The talk only subsided during the off season before the 2008-2009 season before the critics dethroned Boston before their reign was over. Injuries limited the Celtics in the playoffs last season and slowed them down at the beginning of the season.

The Celtics are a bit older and they still hear about it but have not slowed down in the standings. They are closing in on their third division titles in as many years. The Celtics have a 10-game lead over the Toronto Raptors with just 13 regular season games left. Boston is starting to put everything together.

The Celtics have won nine of their last 12 games this month. Their last four straight victories have been by an average of 13.5 points per game.

Boston is one of the better defensive teams in the league giving up just 94.1 points per game. The Celtics have held eight out of their last 11 opponents under 100 points.

The Celtics dominated the Jazz in their last meeting 105-86. The Celtic defense shutout the high scoring Jazz from thee point land, 0-13.

The Celtics offense has received a big boost from the improved play of Paul Pierce. Pierce is averaging a solid 18.1 points on the season but has stepped it up over the last three games averaging 28 points per contest.

The Utah Jazz will be the last Western Conference team that the Celtics will face on their current three game road trip. They beat Houston 94-87 and then cooled off the Dallas Mavericks 102-93.

The Utah Jazz (45-25) are also playing solid basketball but they trail the Denver Nuggets by two games in the Northwest Division. The jazz have three out of their last four games and seven of their last 10.

Utah has played well despite several injures along their front line. Forward Andrei Kirilenko has missed four of their last five games with a calf injury and Memet Okur sat out last game with a stomach ailment.

Deron Williams is the catalyst of an Utah offense that is averaging 110.2 points on 50.1% shooting over the last five games.

The best match-up of the night will have the defense of the Celtics trying to slow down the fast-breaking Utah Jazz.
