The Butler Bulldogs have found themselves in the National Championship Game in their hometown of Indianapolis. They will be taking on the Duke Blue Devils tonight to decide who goes home with the championship. The game will be on CBS on Monday.
The Duke Blue Devils opened -6.5 and were quickly bet up to 7.5. The total opened up at 129 and has moved down to 128. The Money-line open with Duke -350 and Butler +290 with the money on Duke moving the money line to Duke -370 and Butler to +315.
The Horizon League Champions have won 25 straight games, the longest winning streak in the country. In the tournament they knocked off UTEP 77-59, Murray State 54-52, Syracuse 63-59, Michigan State 52-50.
The Duke Blue Devils were the only #1 seed to make it into the NCAA Final Four. They dominated their way to the game tonight by trampling Arkansas-Pine bluff 73-44, smothered Cal 68-53, ran away from Purdue 70-57, out rebounded Baylor 78-71 and destroyed West Virginia 78-57.
The Butler Bulldogs have set a record in the NCAA but keeping all five of their opponents to under 60 points per game. In the NCAA Tournament they are giving up just 55.2 points per game.
The Duke Blue Devils have also been a defensive force in the tournament allowing just
56.4 points per game in the tournament on 39.2 % shooting. The Blue Devils have also dominated the post grabbing +9.4 rebounds than their opponents.
Only the UNLV Rebels were able to won the National Championship in 1990 in recent history. Several other teams have made it to the Elite Eight, Final Four and even the championship game.
The Butler Bulldogs are banged up coming into this game. Forward Matt Howard is questionable after suffering concussion like Symptoms in the Michigan State game. The Bulldogs were already limited in the paint. If Howard is not able to go full speed, The Bulldogs will need a huge game from the perimeter.
Duke will counter with 7-1 Brian Zoubek. Zoubek has averaged 11 rebounds over the last four games for the Blue Devils. Duke also have 6-10 brothers Mason and Miles Plumlee coming off the bench.
This is the classic David versus Goliath Story. Butler will be looking to make history against a historic program.
