The Mavericks can win the Southwest division and are competing Denver, Phoenix and Utah the second seed in the Western Conference. If the Mavericks win at Portland and the San Antonio Spurs lose to Memphis, Dallas will win the division.
That mat not happen tonight as the Mavericks have yet to beat the Trailblazers this season and the Spurs are playing their best basketball of the season. Dallas also has to play their next three games on the road before hosting San Antonio in their season Finale.
Portland is in a battle for the sixth seed with the Sn Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City. Portland will be playing the of their last four games on their home court where they have won their last six straight games.

This was the Mavericks biggest defensive effort since holding the Charlotte Bobcats to 84 points in their March 1 victory. The Mavericks have not been effective on the defensive end allowing seven of their last 11 opponents to score 100 or more points.
The Mavericks were one of the hottest teams coming out of the all-star break winning 13 straight games but have split their last 12 games and have to face team that they do not match up against and may be the hottest team in the Conference.
