Dallas Mavericks versus San Antonio Spurs NBA TV Playoffs 4-27-2010 Game NBA Sports Betting Lines and Odds Preview

Dallas Mavericks versus San Antonio Spurs NBA TV Playoffs 4-27-2010 Game NBA Sports Betting Lines and Odds Preview thumbnail

The San Antonio Spurs are back in Dallas for Game Five of the first round Western Conference series against the Mavericks. The Spurs currently lead the series 3-1. Tip off at the American Airlines Center is at 9:30 ET. TV Coverage is provided by NBA TV.

Odds makers opened the line at Dallas -4.5. Action on the Mavericks as since moved the line at most books to five points. The total is 193.

Though the Mavericks are favored in tonight’s match up, it will be unlikely that they come back to beat the Spurs in this series and advance in the playoffs. Out of 189 teams that have been down 3-1, only eight have found a way to turn around and win three straight. The Mavericks do have the advantage of playing Games Five and Seven at home.

The Spurs 92-89 Sunday night home win was not an easy one. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker had a combined 31 points. George Hill was able to pick up some slack by scoring 29 points in 45 minutes of play. The San Antonio point guard shot 11-16 from the field including five of six from beyond the three and hitting two of two free throw attempts. Hill also had two steals and one block.

Dallas had a terrible third quarter and scored only 11 points. This would prove costly as the Mavericks blew their 11 point half time lead. Dallas’s 30 point fourth quarter was not enough to get them ahead of the Spurs by the time the clock ran out.

Mavericks’ center Eric Dampier has failed to score in three consecutive games. Dampier has not scored a single point in 68 minutes of play. In his 98 minutes of play this post season, Dampier has scored only five points. Dampier has not scored a single field goal in the 2010 playoffs. His five points came from free throws in Game One where he shot 41.7% from the line.

All San Antonio players who average more than 30 minutes of play in this first round series also average more than 11 points per game.

Dallas cannot rely on Dirk Nowitzki’s average 28 points per game in this series. The Mavericks who averaged over 102 points per game during the regular season are averaging 91.8 against the Spurs.

San Antonio is now 4-1 to win the Western Conference with a chance to close out the series tonight.
